longlife milk

Hi doc
you suggested normal cow''s milk for my two year old. Can you please explain to me what is the difference and if it would be harmful to use longlife milk. PLEASE.

It is not at all harmful to use long-life [UHT] milk as such it is just that there is not enough information available about it. This kind of milk has been treated at very high temperature [135 degreees] to kill off any possible germs in the milk.At one time there was some concern about the low iron content of this kind of milk and also questions about the effects of high temperature on some of the other contents of the milk.Having said this there are very many children who do very nicely on UHT milk.
