Living with nocturnal diabetes

hi there. My niece who is 2 YRS old has nocturnal diabetes. She is awake till the wee hours of the morning,and this is putting a huge strain on her parents. Her sugar levels are higher at night making her more active. any medication she could take to help her sleep? i would appreciate any assistance,thanks.

At the best of times it is not a good idea to give a sedative to young children, but even more so when a child has diabetes. It is essential that your niece is seen by the paediatrician again and that her diabetes is better controlled than at present. It is possible that her insulin dosage needs to be adjusted.
