Q.

Liquids

Dear Doc

My 9 month old baby drinks 500 - 550 ml of formula per day (24 hour period). I have tried recently to introduce rooibos tea to her, but she only has a few small sips at a time and then refuses to have more.

Is it necessary to offer her rooibos tea / water to her at this stage or is the formula sufficient?

Many thanks!

There is no real need for your bay to take other fluids except if the weather is hot, but your bay seems to be drinking very little per day now. You have not given me her weight, but the average weight for a baby girl of 9 nmonths is 8.3kg. This means that her recommended fluid intake per day is 8x140ml=1120ml.
