Knee Pain

Hi Doc

My 10 yr old daughter started to complain about pain in her knees. I took her to GP last week and he did some blood tests and I took her for x -rays of the knees. According to my GP there is nothing serious wrong with her and that she must rest for the rest of the week before she proceed with school sport activities. She now also complain that the same pain is in her hips and arms.
Is it possible that this is growing pains? She is taking Adco-Mefanimic capsules for the pain. I also would like to know up to what age is children treated by a Paediatrician.

I am very concerned about this story. Your daughter may have any of a number of illnesses such as Rheumatoid arthritis or even a condition called Rheumatic fever or other causes of joint pains which you mention here. She must be seen by a paediatrician as soon as possible. She must not exercise until a proper diagnosis of her complaint has been made. This is not due to growing pains
