Q.

Just checking

Doc, my 16m old baby boy has had a bad cold for 2 weeks now and this morning he is very hoarse. He is not eating or drinking much and is definitely more crabby and tired for the last 48 hours. He only has a low grade fever. I have just recovered from flu - so I think I may have passed it on to him.

Apart from fluids and saline drops - there is nothing more I can/should be doing? I am never sure at which point you need a medical opinion and I dont want to go to the doctor for the common cold. Any suggestions please.

My son is not in daycare, he is at home.

Thank you

I agree that he may have started off with a cold, but your baby's illness is going on too long and now he seems to have developed the symptoms of croup. So it is best for you to take him to be seen by your doctor.
