Hello Dr
My first baby developed jaundice two days after birth. I am now expecting my second baby and I was wondering if I should be expecting her to also have jaundice? Is it likey that it if one child has it the other will too? Is there anything I can do or avoid eating that will lower the chances of a jaundice baby?

Unless there is a known cause for the jaundice such as some inherited cause, it is impossible to predict whether your next baby will be jaundiced or not. There is nothing that you can do from your diet point of view to prevent jaundice from occurring in your new baby.

My 1st baby had jaundice at birth and was post mature, I just had a second baby girl last yr October and was diagnised with jaundice on my 4th day at the hospital.Same day i was discharged form hospital and had to leave the baby unprepared.Just be mentally prepared for anything. You might be lucky around this time.My gnae said it had nothing to do with food.wait for the doc' s reply though

Good luck with your pregnancy and best wishes
