Q.

Itching scalp

My son of 7 is complaining of an itching scalp. We did not see any lice, but still treated him with lice shampoo without any difference. Can it be an allergy?

The most likely cause for an itchy scalp in this age group remains headlice.Sometimes the eggs are difficult to see. It is unusual that the shampoo made no difference. Your son may have a fungal infection of his scalp which is also difficult to see especially in the early stages. Wash his hair with Niz-Shampoo and see if this helps him. If he is no better after 14 days he should be seen by a dermatologist.
