Is this how it goes?

Hi Doctor,

My two boys are struggling with illnesses. My 3 year old is at creche and had tonsilitis in November and now has pneumonia. My 8 month old had tonsilitis in January and now has an allergy. The 3 year old is drinking cows milk and my 8 month old is drinking Lactogen 2. They both constantly have runny noses and coughs. Should I take them to an allergist? Ouma has asthma and my husband has a constant post nasal drip. I am not sure if this is normal for children this age. I live in Nelspruit, where would the nearest allergist be? Is there a supplement specifically to help with respiratory illnesses? I have heard of Respitron or something similar to that name.

Thank you for your time.

Despite your family history of allergy, your children's problems sound more like recurrent infections than allergies.Your older son certainly is showing the features of the so-called creche syndrome with him picking up infections from other children. These he then brings home and your baby is also being affected. This kind of problem is usually a preschool problem which children will outgrow. You need to boost your children's immunity by giving them a probiotic daily such as Reuteri drops for the baby and Probiflora childrens for your 3 year old. Your older son should also be on Creche Guard or Scotts emulsion.
