Is this a phase?

Good day doctor

My son is 2 .4 mnths old. Of late his he seems to be very jealous when his father and I would show affection towards each other or even justing sitting next to each other will be a problem. He will freak out, throw himself to the floor, kick, throw things around, cry and and scream. Is it something to be concerned about. Really bizarre and weird behaviour I wouldnt want him to grow up like that. We have tried to include him when we hug but this doesnt seem to work well right now. Is this a phase that will hopefully pass or is it part of his development

It would be interesting to hear what you have to say. What would you suggest we do? Thank you

This is a very common behaviour and is due to a passing stage of jealousy and demand for attention. You will not get very far trying to explain anything to your son now, so both of you just need to give him plenty of quality time now and eventually this phase will pass.

This is pretty normal behaviour at this age.

When things are calm and perhaps your husband isn''t around, sit with your son and explain that you can all love each other because you are family and that if he behaves like that when you and dad hug that he will be getting time out.

It will eventually pass but it is a particularly trying time.
