Is she underweight?

Plz assist my 18 months girls is about 60cm tall and weighs 9kgs. Each timeI take her for weighing I get different answers, some nurses says she' s a small baby and that I should not worry! The other one said the child is underfed! She has what I think is a healthy appitite for eg she has porridge with her formula (Nido1+). honey and some peanutbutter for breakfast, a peeled apple for a snack and lunch she' d have pap and gravy with some meat, for supper she' d have whatever we a ahving with cokked veggies. Should I be worried?

The normal height for a girl toddler of 18 months is 80cm, so your little girl is very small indeed. The average weight is just over 10kg, so her weight is not as far below this mark as her height is. Please ask your paediatrician to see your little girl as he height is far below the expected height for her age.

If she has followed her same curve - then she is fine. So if she was on the 25th percentile and is still on that - then she is fine.

Some nurses think all babies need to be on the 50th percentile because they don' t understand how the charts work.

Your child does need to eat more fruit and vegetables though.
At this age she needs breakfast, lunch and super, and two snacks between and perhaps even an apple or biscuit and cheese before bed.

If you are very worried, then go and see your peadiatrician to reassure yourself.
Also perhaps post to diet doc for some help with good nutrition for your toddler.

Is she healthy? Have your pead check that all is ok? If everything is fine - don' t stress...

My lg is 18 mnths, 59cm and weighs 7.8kg - VERY underweight, but I have had her check for EVERYTHING and she' s fine!! My hubby and I are both " small" . She' s even on pediasure milk to help her gain weight, but she picks up weight very slowly and she' s extremely active.
She doesn' t look underfed at all - just very petite....

Trust your gut feeling and your instincts..

Good luck :-)
