Is my baby girl over weight?

Hi Doctor,

My baby girl of 6 months old is weighing 10.6kg. I''m just concerned that she might become a overweight child. She doesn''t eat much, but we''ve already introduced solids to her 3 times daily and she till has 5 bottles in a 24hour cycle of 200ml. Please let me know. Her lenght is 76cm now.

Thank you
Mrs Alisha Schoeman

If you look only at your baby's weight you would certainly think she is overweight as her weight is far above the average. If you look at her height as well which is also well above the average, it then becomes obvious that your baby girl is indeed a very big child. Her height and weight are in balance and both are well above the average. There is no need to change her diet.
