Q.

Is it an infection

Hi Doc,
My 10 months old has whitish layer in the mouth. You know like a dirty tongue, but this is on the inside of the mouth and lips.I remove it by wiping but the same thing happens again the following day. He eats normally, currently teething(has 4 toofies) and has a funny smelling breath. He is drooling a lot.
Is there anything i can use to help him?should i take him to the doctor?
He also has a cold, coughs and has runny nose.
Thank you Doc, you help is always greatly appreciated

You are very welcome.Has your baby had an antibiotic recently? He has thrush in his mouth and this often follows on using antibiotics in babies. Try Nystatin oral drops 1ml 4 times a day in his mouth. use these drops for 5 days. Also give him a probiotic such as Reuterina drops 1ml daily for 10 days. If his mouth is not better after 5 days he must see a doctor.
