Is baby okay?

I am exclusively breastfeeding my 4 -month old son. While at creche during the day he has breastmilk in a bottle and is a very calm and peaceful baby. the caregiver at the creche told me that it is not normal for a baby to only have a dirty nappy about once a week and this is the case with my son, sometimes he may have a dirty nappy twice a week but mostly it is just once every 7 or 8 days.
is this okay? He is not moaning or crying or losing weight and is quite a healthy happy baby. he sleeps 6-7 hours a night. is everything okay.

Your baby should be passing a stool every day to once every second day.Only passing a stool once a week is unusual. He seems to be happy and doing well and I assume that his once a week stool is normal, but this is unusual. It would be a good idea to ask your paediatrician to see him just to be on the safe side.

Hi I breastfed my baby until he was 6 months old - and he also had a nr 2 about once in 5-6 days - so it is perfectly normal! Breastfed babies do not have a stool every day. you can confirm on the breastfeeding forum if not sure.

This is quite normal. Our Paed explained that with a breastfedbaby it is okay for baby to make a poo once in 5 days and that a bottle baby makes a poo 5 times in 1 day.
