Q.

Irregular stool

Hi

My son will be four in Sep. He usually has a stool every two or three days. The stool is not very hard but it smells more bad than what a regular stol is supposed to smell like.

He eats weatbix/oats every other morning but it doesnt help. i also tried aloe vera juice in the morning. He tends to like eating carbohydrates too though we dont give him much of the unhealthy ones.

He had mild infantile eczema but it has cleared up. Is there a problem that he' s not having regualr bowel movements?

Thank you

It is very common for children to only pass a stool every second day, but less common every third day as your son appears to be doing, although even this pattern is well recognised. You must make sure that he eats plenty of fruit. Even drinkiing fruit juice will help him. Lots of fibre in his diet is important as well and Weetbix and wholewheat bread are good foods for him.Although you say that your son's stools are quite foul smelling they are not hard or watrey and appear to be quite normal otherwise.
I presume that he is growing well and is a happy little boy.
