Iron Deficient child

My 3 year old daughter has had repeated " critically low"  iron level diagnoses and is currently on 10mls Ferrimed daily, the problem is when she stops Ferrimed (as we have done before) her iron levels revert to their very low levels. I would like to get to the CAUSE of the iron deficiency, I am tired of hearing how common it is, i don''t accept that it is her diet as she has quite a healthy diet as far as kids go, my concern is how badly her mood gets affected when her iron levels get low (which is now our indicator to go back to the lab for more blood tests), an otherwise happy child she becomes so miserable and moody, crying and exhausted all the time!(extreme), can anyone recommend someone in the Cape Town area that possibly specialises in treating children with severe iron deficiencies??

You should take your daughter to be seen at the Haematology Clinic at the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Rondebosch. Phone 021-658511 to make an appointment, ask for haematology appointments.
