Q.

Infection

Hi Doc,

My 26months old boy had a small rash all over his face and body and a bit of a fever, so the next day took him to a doc, she said he has a sinus throat infection and a lot of phlegm, so she gave him an antibiotic and some medicine...the rash is gone but now he coughs a lot and really bad, he''s got a runny nose i noticed the mucus is very thick and green/yellowish colour. It''s been 8days now from the doc

The coughing and running nose started before all this but they were not as bad as they are now.

Do I take him back or let him finish his medicine and see?

Your little son's illness startrted off with a cold and his chest has become infected as well. This infection is probably caused by a virus,so antibiotics will not help. This kind of infection can last up to 3 weeks at a time.It is most important to keep your son's nose clear so that he can breathe through his nose and also to stop any post-nasal drip from aggravating his cough. Use a saline nasal spray such as Sterimar twice a day to clear his nose. Also give him Mucospect 5ml twice a day to help him to cough up the mucus still in his chest.
