infant constantly vomiting

I have a almost 8 month old baby who has had a problem with vomiting since he was 6 weeks weeks old. He was 2 months prem, and at 6 weeks started vomiting. He was diagnosed as having reflux, and ut on Losec, althogh it did not help. He has been identified as being gluten intolerant, milkallergic and soya allergic. Our GP recommended we take him off all formula and put him only on suitable Gluten free, dairy free, soya fre baby porridge, and fruits, veg and meat, with tea, diluted fruit juice water and rice milk to drink. A barium swallow and PH study ruled out reflux and any obstructive problems, but he is still vomiting large amounts. The only time he does not vomit after food or liquid is when he has a bottle (of rice milk) during the night. A NDT physio did tell us he is very tense, andhis upper body is very stiff, so he is not yet pushing up on his arms, or sitting, and does not want to lie on his tummy. Do you have an idea as to what may be lleading to his vomiting? Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Many thanks

This kind of problem can occur in an illness called eosiniphilic gastritis [note that your baby only seems to have the gastritis problem and the entire intestine may not be involved]. It is a rare form of milk allergy in babies of this age and other food intolerances occur as well. The diagnosis should be confirmed by a paediatric gastroenterologist. The best and only formula to use is one called Neocate which is very expensive but some medical aids will cover the costs.Read up about this condition on Google.
