Inconsolable crying

My daughter is now 12 weeks old and for the last few days has been crying so much but nothing wants to work. Holding, bottle, playing, talking to her, burping, trying to get her to sleep, NOTHING wants to work.

When she cries it is a very sad cry and I don''t know what else to try. She is not sick and does not have a temperature.

My one friend said the same thing happened to her when her daughter was 10 weeks and she called the pead and the pead said she must try solids and she says that once she started the solids the problem went away. (her daughter is now 8 months and very healthy.)

Do I try that? please any suggestions are welcome.

Your daughter is more likely to be having a problem with reflux.Reflux causes burning and irritation of the lower part of a baby's oesophagus due to stomach acid. Try giving her Gaviscon liquid after every feed and see if this helps. Speak to your pharmacist about the Gaviscon.

Thank you. I will give it all a try. She had reflux when she was about 4 weeks old till about 10 weeks. (the whole projectile vomiting thing) but it seemed to go away. Will def try these options.

Im not a doctor but this happened to me too. I was told she suffered from " silent reflux" .. It''s the same as heartburn, but for babies. If it is this, I changed her milk to Novalac AR, and it helped. She is now 6 months old and has outgrown the reflux. Just a thought...
