Iliadin Drops

Good day docter. Just a question. My sister has a 18 month old girl and she puts Iliading drops in her nose every night. Only once at night and only one drop each nostral. She said it''s because she is cutting 2-3 teeth every month and her nose blocks at night. Is this safe and if not why not so I can let her know. Just concerned.

This is a good question. Paediatricians are against using decongestant nose drops for longer than 5 days at a time in young children because of the possibility of causing a condition called 'rebound rhinitis'. When rebound rhinitis occurs a permanent blocked nose may result which does not respond to the any decongestants in the future.

None of my business... but she shouldn''t use it for more than 5 days. Salex is totally safe and she can also use karvol spray in the room to keep the nose open.
