Q.

How much milk per day for 19 month old

Dear prof

How much milk should my 19 month old girl be drinking a day? I currently give her a rooibos tea bottel in the morning after her porridge (140ml tea with 60 ml milk), 180 ml milk bottle after lunch for her 2 hour nap and then a 220ml milk bottle at bed time. She sleeps through at night without waking. She is not a great eater, lately she eats her porridge in the morning, does not want to eat lunch (perhaps a yogart) and then some evenings eats all of her cooked food and some evenings she only wants pronutro. She weighs around 12,5kg and is otherwise very healthy.

You have provided all the necessary information which helps to decide if we need to be concerned about your daughter's weight. The average weight for a girl of 19 months is 10.5kg. So despite her taking less than the recommended 600ml of milk a day at her age,she is doing well and there is no need to increase her milk intake.
