Q.

How long to treat with pain meds

Dr, my son had a tonsillectomy on Thursday morning. The ENT perscribed Ponsten/Stopayne every 3 hours alternating. He still has a lot of pain and today is day 5. Can I still give him pain meds - I am worried as it has been so much already.

Thank you

I am also worried especially about all of the Stopayne that your son has been given. Stopayne contains codeine. Then I am worried that after day 5 of the operation he still has so much pain. This is unusual. Please phone the ENT surgeon and tell him that your son is still having a lot of pain and what needs to be done, but no more Stopayne.
