How do I help my child gain weight?

My daugter is 7, weights 21 kg and just went off Straterra and onto Concerta. She is ADD (not hyperactive). I tried Pediasure, but it does not taste well so a drink formula is not going to do the job. Please advise whether there are any supplements etc go help her gain weight. She is not a huge breakfast eater (cereals at the most), I pack a health lunch box to school (but she hardly touches it... too busy playing... and she eats good at dinner time (she is fond of veggies including broccoli, believe it or not....
Please guide me.

The average weight for a girl of 7 years is 23kg. Your daughter's weight is certainly less than this but her weight is still well within acceptable limits for her age. You are aware that Concerta may affect her appetite and so I am not surprised that she does not eat her lunch. She will not be able to tolerate an appetite stimulant so the best suggestion is to keep her off the Concerta over weekends and all school holidays. Hopefully she will not need to take the Concerta for too long as well.

If she enjoys veggies, maybe change what you are putting in her lunch box and give her some raw veggies with hummus or other dips. Maybe she just doesn''t like what''s on offer for lunch. I often pop a boiled egg into my sons lunch box as we just don''t have time for cooked breakfasts, so we tend to eat fruit and yoghurt for breakfast.

Now that its winter, try making oats and other heavier meals for breakfast.

So long as she isn''t filling up on sweets and junk she''s probably getting what she needs. Some children are just slim, my son is on the 25th percentile for weight (he has been since birth and is still there now at 7) he eats twice what I''ve ever seen any other child eat, but he is extremely physically active and plays sport every day of the week. He also eats more sweets than I''d like, but he''s burnign the energy off.
