Q.

Honey: Am I giving too much?

My son is 2 years and 8 months old. I have started giving him Rooibos tea at night. I add 2 teaspoons of honey in a 240ml bottle. He likes it so much that he drinks between 3 and 4 bottles at night. That is between 6 and 8 teaspoons of honey at night. Is that too much honey?

I have tried to put 1 teaspoon of honey in a bottle but then he refuses to drink it.

Please advise...

You are indeed giving your son too much honey and you will need to reduce this amount. No wonder that he drinks so many bottles at night , he likes the excessive sweetness of the honey. It will be better in any case if he refuses to drink a bottle if you only use 1 teaspoonful of honey. This may end this habit of drinking so much milk and honey at night.
