Q.

Hoarse Voice

Hi Professor,

My 3 year old son has a hoarse voice and a wet cough. He has Epilepsy. His tonsils are not swollen and he does not have a temperature.

I have in my medicine chest: Benylin Bronchospect, Mucospect and Flemeze. Can I give him one of these? Are they all the same? If none of the above medicines, can you please suggest something else. I also have Andolex C throat spray, can I use this on him?

Thank you.

Your son appears to have an illness called laryngitis. It is usually caused by a virus infection and can last for up to 10 days but usually less time than this. Mucospect may help to some extent but the best treatment would be to use Karvol. Ask your pharnacist for advice about using Karvol.
