Q.

High blood pressure

hi there,

Our tea girl at works grand daughter is always sick and in hospital, but i' m sure you can understand they never get told whats wrong with the baby etc.

The last episode, the baby was in hospital for over a week with a drip etc. And the hospital told the mom that everything is due to the baby having high blood pressure.

Can a baby that is not 1 yet have high blood pressure. I' m sorry i don' t know the whole history, and its difficult to get the history if the granny doesn' t get the info from the docs and hospital.

Regards

Tamaryn

Paediatrician

Yes babies can have high blood pressure especially if they have heart or kidney problems.Another cause is the narrowing of certain blood vessels especially the arteries taking blood to the kidneys [renal arteries] This little baby should be under the care of a paediatrician at the hospital.
