help needed PLEASE

Dr, my little son, aged 22 months old is suffering from asthma and rhinitis  He had Augmentum(?) and 6 days of Prelone (4ml) 4 weeks ago for earinfection and coughing...2 weeks ago he was put on 3 days antibiotics and adrenalin for 2 days and Celestmine for 5 days for croup and URI. Today he started coughing again, it sounds like a post nasal kind of cough that is starting to sound more like croup this afternoon! He has been and still is on all his chronic meds during the last 6 months and while using aboved mentioned meds (Zyrtec, Singulair, Ventolin and Flixotide) I have givin him Ventolin twice today! What more can I do to stop the coughing and him becoming worse? Can I give him one shot Prelone again, or what? He is not that bad that I feel I need to go to ER or fever.....But I am worried because he is becoming more and more tight chested!

The problem here is that after all this treatment you do not have a clear diagnosis of your little son's illness. It does not sound like asthma and also may not be croup. He has not benefited from being on asthma treatment. Your first step must be to get him seen by a paediatric pulmonologist so that he can be properly diagnosed. There are experts in all the main centres in SA.
