Q.

head rolling as though saying no

My one year old has got in the habit of swinging his head back and forth sometimes to the point of banging it against the back of the highchair, pram, etc. He seems to do this when he is tired / hungry but also when he does not want something such as a food he is not fond of. Usually he rolls his eyes up as well. He can be distracted and is perfectly normal otherwise. Other people have commented on it - now I worry.

This is a common mannerism at this age and there is no need for any concern. As you correctly say here, your baby is perfectly normal.
