Hard Poo

My baby has always suffered with hard poo. He battels to get it out and when it eventually does come out, sometimes a day or 2 later, it is hard and big, like a adult poo. Its very hard to see my son in pain as he screams &  his face goes so red. His bum hole opens the sice of a 2 rand coin or even bigger, I am so scared that he is going to tear it or burst something in his head. Any suggestions on what I can give him. He is 14 months &  eats some solids and some purity.

Please see our replies to parents with babies who are constipated. Your son appears to be very constipated. It will be of value to change his milk as this is often one of the important causes of constipation in your baby's age group.See that he eats fibre rich food, lots of fresh fruit and drinks water, rooibos tea and dilute fruit juices.
