Q.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

My three year old daughter is off from school with hand, foot and mouth disease. There have been a few cases at her school. She only has one blister on her hand and another on her foot, and her fever cleared within two days. Is it definitely hand, foot and mouth disease even with only two blisters? And when can she go back to school if it is? Thanks.

Yes this is hand foot and mouth disease which is due to a coxsackie virusl infection. It is very infectious for other young children. Your daughter can only return to school when the blisters have dried up completely and have turned to scabs.
