Q.

Hamster Bite

Hi Doc, this might sound stupid but please advice me. Is a hamster bite bad and how should we treat it? It was bleeding. Should LO get a tetanis injection? He is 4 and half.

Hamsters do not usually carry any dangerous diseases [although on very rare occasions they can do so], so the bite is not regarded as being serious. Clean the bite area well with Savlon or other antiseptic, then apply Betadine ointment and cover with a plaster.It is not necessary to have a tetanus injection.
