Q.

Growth Hormone

Where can I find a doctor that speciallises in children with growth hormone problems, my daughter is 13 yrs old nearly 6ft tall and is losing weight at a rapid pace, thyroid was checked and the Gp says she has a lazy thyroid but her symptoms should then be picking up weight. I was told to keep a eye on the weight loss for another month and then have a full thyroid test done again to check levels. The Patologist suggested we get to a dr. that specialises in Growth hormone problems.

Paediatrician

Your daughter needs to see a paediatric endocrinologist. This should be done as soon as possible. She certainly does not appear to have a lazy thyroid.I am concerned that she may have a problem with her pituitary gland which is situated under the brain.
