Growing pains

Hi Doc. My son is 33 months, but for the past month has been complaining of knee pains. Lately its been getting worse, to a point he will cry non-stop for a while. Sometimes it seems so bad that he limps.
When he was about 2 he hurt his one knee and there was an indent for that day, and just bruising afterward. Could this have caused a problem? I know kneecaps are still soft at that stage.
Is it just growing pains, or should I have this examined?
I rub Puma balm to help, and sometimes give him panado if he seems in too much pain. He seems fine at school, and the pain is evident only in the evenings.
Many thanks.

This could be due to growing pains although your son is a bit young for this complaint and I am concerned that he limps as this is very unusual with growing pains. So it would be best if he was carefully examined by a paediatrician and a definite diagnosis was made here.
