Q.

Grommets

Good afternoon

My 14-month old daughter has recurring middle ear infections, and our pediatrician has advised that she has grommets inserted. I was told that if I stopped smoking (never inside, always outdoors) that she won' t get these infections or need surgery. How badly would smoking in fair proximity to my daughter affect her?

Many thanks

There are several other causes for recurrent ear infections in young children. As you do not smoke anywhere near her your smoking is probably not an issue here-although as you know you should not be smoking for obvious reasons.
