Grass Allergy

I think my 8 month old has an allergy to grass. He was on anti-biotics for tonsillitis and on the last day, he picked up a cough and a runny nose. We did play outside on the grass that day, but I did not click.

Then we played again on the grass yesterday and today he has runny, oozing, red eyes, runny nose and a wet cough. I have given him 2.5ml Allecet and Chamiflor nose spray.

Is there an allergy injection he can get for this? Is it possible he may outgrow this?

Thank you Professor.

You are welcome. It is unusual for such a young baby to be allergic to grass pollen. This is because babies of 8 months have not usually had sufficient exposure to grass pollen to have had time to develop an allergy. Your baby's symptoms suggest that he has a bad cold which is caused by a virus and antibiotics will not help for this. I note that he recently had an antibiotic. He now needs a probiotic such as Reuteri infant drops 5 drops daily for 10 days.Keep his nose clear by using the Chamiflor nose spray twice a day. You can give him the Allecet 2.5ml at might to help to dry up his nasal discharge. He should get better within about 10 days.
