Going Away

Hi doc,

I have been breastfeeding as well as giving my 9 week old daughter the bottle with no hassles...I recently had to go to work for the day and left for the first time for the day with our nanny. She was fine for a while until she got hungry and absolutely refused the bottle and cried hysterically...she eventually fell asleep and awoke even hungrier, she then drank one bottle after another non-stop until she started taking out the milk..and even then she still wanted to drink. I have to go away overseas in the next 2 weeks for 8 days and am afraid of a repeat episode. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

I am not sure what you are asking here. Are you going to leave your baby for 8 days while you are overseas? She does seem to be used to taking her formula and the episode you describe may just turn out to be a once off event. She will get used to her nanny. The best would be for you to be present at first while your nanny is trying to feed her.
