Q.

glycerine suppositories

Hi My 2 week old daughter is suffering her first bout of constipation. I have been feeding her formula, as my milk never " came in" . The clinic gave me glycerine suppositories to insert, but I am nervous to do so. Isnt 2 weeks old a bit too newborn to use these on?

Someone else suggested a little brown sugar in her bottle, but once again as a first time mom Im too scared to try this as well...

Help....
Thanks

This problem is most probably due to the formula you are using.Already at only 2 weeks your baby is constipated. This is going to become an increasing problem. Change to Lactogen1 and see if she is better on this formula. If not let me know and I will advise you further.

My baby is having a tough time with constipation. He has been to the paed twice. We have used laxette and suppositories and the paediatrician gave him an enema, but he just becomes constipated again. He is on formula and solids (veg &  fruit).
When he does go to the toilet there is a small amount of blood. Not sure what to do now.
