Hi there Doc

My son of 4 years complains that it is sore when he urinates.
I have checked his privates and it looks like there is a pimple on the side and looks like a cut on the tip. What can this be? I have had him checked by a GP and he says that there is nothing I can do he needs to be circumsized. what is your opinion?

This pimple is probably just a small cyst which is very common and normal in children of this age and which should disappear by itself. This should not cause any pain when he urinates. The small cut at the tip of his penis can certainly do this. Make sure that he wears loose fitting pure cotton underpants. Apply Bepanthen nappy cream to his penis to help to heal the cut that you have noticed

I concur wit the Pead, the cut can be healed and the cyst should dissapear on it''s own. The only valid reason for a full amputation of his foreskin would be if your sons life was in danger, which clearly it is not.
