Gender orientation

Hi Doc

I have twin daughters 3 and half years old. The kidnergarten teacher has told me that the one twin keeps saying she is a boy and when the class is asked to divide themselves into boys and girls she always joins the boy group. The teacher seems to think this is something to be concerned about? Is it and if so, where to from here?

This is most probably just a passing phase and a bit of a game or play acting by your daughter. She may even be rather fond of one of the little boys in her group and she wants to be part of the boy's group for this reason. Keep her interested in play activities which little girl's enjoy when she is at home such as playing with her dolls and all of this should pass without any problems.
