Q.

Formula vs cows milk

Dear Doc

My son is almost 12 months. I see on the NAN tin, that it contains lots of vitamins etc. It seems to have a probiotic and omega as well.

Now, I also see on a cow' s milk bottle, that there is really not much at all to talk about in terms of vitamins etc! So, is it not better to stick with formula, as opposed to switching to cow' s milk? Surely my baby will be losing out on essential vitamins if I stop formula now?

Many thanks,
Sam

You can switch to cows milk at 12 months if you wish to do so. Your son will be getting all the vitamins he needs in a good mixed diet. Many yoghurts contain excellent probiotics. If you prefer to have a special milk for your son you can use Parmalat First Growth milk.
