Q.

Follow up question on rash

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for your reply on the question about my maid' s 8 year old daughter. She is applying Calamine Lotion at night after her bath. The rash is now under her arms as well. She says there are no fleas in her house and the other kids are not affected.

Can it possibly be Heat Rash? Can she take an anti-histamine?

Thank you.

Yes this may be a heat rash. The flea bites are usually due to sand fleas which are not found in the house. It is very difficult to diagnose a skin rash without being able to see the rash. Another possibility is scabies if the rash is very itchy and is spreading. It would be best to ask a doctor to see this little girl.
