Flu vaccine for toddler

Dear Dr

Our baby girl is 20 months old, she weighs around 13kg and is on average very healthy. Could I give her the flu vaccine to " prepare"  her for the winter months? If yes, when is the best time of the year to give the flu vaccine? She is attending creche every day.
Thank you

Yes,this is recommended for your daughter of 20 months especially as she attends a crèche.

Just remember that the flu vaccine is for influenza, it doesn''t help with runny noses, coughs and colds - although people call these flu - they aren''t, they''re colds.

I''m giving my children the flu vaccine this year, as my son has got flu each year for 3 years and we can''t miss half a term of school again and have him so desperately ill. Its the one vaccine I don''t give as a matter of course, but we''re doing it this year.
