Flea Bites

My childs body is covered in flea bites, we don' t have pets but have loads of stray cats in the yard and the way the wind has been blowing lately i think their fleas somehow got into the house. What can i apply and i have been giving him Allergex at night but he still scratches. Any suggestions?

You do not mention your son's age. This is probably an allergy to sand flea bites called papular urticaria. Give your child a dose of Thiamine Hydrochloride [vitamin B1] 25mg daily for 3 months [this will probably be a quarter of a 100mg tablet which you will need to give him once daily]. This will make him less likely to be bitten by fleas. Give him the Allergex at night and apply calamine lotion to the flea bites twice a day.
