Q.

Fingers in mouth

Dear Doc

My 14 week old baby has started to put her fingers in her mouth quite often. She never used to suck her fingers, but has started this recently. I try to give her a NUK dummy instead when I see her doing this.

Is this a very bad habit that I need to break early? Or am I overreacting to something quite " normal" ?

Thanks
Syl

This is normal especially when your baby first starts with the early signs of teething. So do not be concerned.

Hi Syl,

My LG did the same thing, she still does it sometimes. I did some research on this, and I found that it is a self-soothing method for them to put their fingers in their mouth. It is good if she does that. Don' t take her hands out of her mouth, let her be.
