Feverish baby

My 10 month old son has had a fever for the past 3 days. It subsides when Panado is adminstered but flares up again about 4-5 hours later.

We think he has the fever because he is teething, the inside of hiis mouth feels extremely hot &  he does not allow you to administer teething powder/gel. He constantly chews on his pacifier &  has no appetite.

What could be causing the fever? Should I take him to the Paed?
Will the sopository pain killers work better (he refuses to drink the Panado)?

Thank you.

A high fever for several days in a baby of your son's age is often a sign that he may be developing 'baby measles' also known as Roseola. The rash usually appears after 4 to 5 days and lasts for a day or two. No treatment other than Panado is needed.

Hi Stressed Mom,

I think you should take him to the Paed since the fever is not breaking. It could be something other than his teeth, like his ears for example, which you cannot see without the right equipment.
