Fever

My 2 year and 7 month nephew has had a fever for a while, doctors say he has an infection but have no idea what kind of infection it is. he is limping on his right leg and tests found fluid between his right hip joints. his fever fluctuates and the antibiotic drip is not working. please help.

This may not be an actual infection, but rather a temporary problem of his hip known as 'irritable hip syndrome' Children may have a mild fever for several days when the illness starts.Antibiotics do not help. This condition is usually seen in children from 3 years onwards.The illness gets bettre without any special tretament. It does help to give something for pain and fever such as Nurofen Syrup.
