Q.

Fever

Evening Dr. My almost three month old had a temp of 38.7. I gave him a cool bath and panado and the temp went down to 36.4. About two hours later his temp was 37.5. I bathed him again and his temp went down to 37.1. After the bath his skin went very purple but returned to normal soon after. His temp then went up to 37.5 and I gave more panado. Do I need to worry or wait it out? What is considered a bad fever at this age? He is more fussy than usual but feeding normally.

Your baby is still very young and he has a definite fever as his temperature is well above 37 degrees at times. He must have an infection. You have treated his fever correctly but his temperature keeps going up again after a short while. You do need to worry because young babies do not normally have temperatures like this. He may have a urinary system infection or an ear infection. He is a bit young to have an illness such as Roseola now. Please ask your doctor to see him

My son has a fever from Thursday and today is Monday, we had tried everything from an injection to suppositories and it comes back every 3 hours. I had a doctor administer the injection. Please help as I am at my wits end.
