Eyes red

My four year old son had fever from last week Wednesday, his daddy took him a GP who said its mild fever, then on Friday his one eye was red, had fever the whole weekend. Took him to a paed on Monday who said he suspects sinuses (x ray done came back clear) The paed prescribed medication then a day after my son temperature dropped really low he was very cold however sweating and his eye is still red. At night his nose gets blocked and he struggles to breathe. Pls help with advice

This sounds like a virus infection caused by a virus called the adenovirus. Keep your son's nose as clear as possible by using Sterimar nasal spray twice daily.Prepare a dilute salt solution by adding half a teaspoonful of salt to a cup of boiled and cooled water.Dip a cotton wool swab into this solution and wipe his red eye with the wet cotton wool twice daily. If his eye is not better after 3 days he will need to be seen again by your doctor.
