Eye discharge and teething

HI Doc.

I have a 9 month old baby girl, who is currently teething and has therefore lost weight from the running tummy& mdash her stools are quiet soft and watery.
Secondly she has developed a sudden discharge from both her eyes.(everytime she wakes up she has a white-slightly yellowish discharge) and resulting in her eyes becoming a bit reddish...Im not too sure which steps to take in this regard,
Kindly offer me advise as to where i can take my little girl for help.

Your advise is appreciated,Thank You.

Your baby has an eye infection.Make up a dilute salt solution using one quarter teaspoonful of salt dissolved in a cup of boiled water. Let the salt dissolve and the solution cool down completely. Using small cotton wool swabs wipe your baby's eyes from her nose side outwards. Throw away the swabs after each wipe. Do this twice day and her eyes should clear up well. If they don't she may need further treatment and you will need to take her to see your doctor or clinic nurse. Also give her extra sips of a Rehidrat solution for at least one day to compensate for the fluid loss and body salts lost with her watery stools.
