Excessive Farting

Dear Doctor

Please help!!!

I' ve got a 4 year old that farts excessively. At first we thought Oh well she is healthy (as my mom always told us you are healthy when you fart as all living people do fart). But now I' m really stressed out. She farts literally every 5min' s or less. You don' t even hear the fart, but just smells it. Or when she say' s sorry mom or dad. What can we do or give her to solve the problem or should i be very worried and rush her to the doctor?
This has been coming on for quite some time now. I really think something is the matter as it just does not seems to be normal especially for her age.

Please help!!

This is not normal in a child of this age and may be due to excessive amounts of carbohydrate in her diet.Another possibility is an intolerance to certain foods especially to milk and /or wheat. As a first step try and reduce the amount of starch she eats especially bread and potatoes inluding chips and give her a probiotic such as Probiflora children's for 10 days. Please let me know if you are still concerned about her after you have tried this.
