epilepsy and fever

hi there

my daughter is 18 months and was diagnosed with epilepsy at 2 months of age, we have finally got her seizures under control with keppra and epilim combined, now the problem is that early hours on tuesday morning(1.48am) she had a seizure which made her breathing very shallow and her whole body stiff, i managed to get her out of it and gave her some rivotril(the neuro said i could) any how since that seizure i have been battling with her temps, the highest one so far is 38.7 the lowest i have managed to get her is 37.2 she is pale as anything and is miserable, but nothing is really wrong, there is no outward signs of illness, such as teething, snot nose, ear infection etc... she was low on iron till she was about 3 months old.. could this be the reason for her paleness and temps? Her paed is out of the office this week and her neuro is far to travel to any advice on what i should do, i dont trust any of the other peads where i am unfortunatly i have only had bad experiences with them

You certainly have had your fair share of problems with your little girl. It is vitally important that your get her fever to settle. The last thing you need now is for her to have a fever seizure [known as a febrile seizure] There must be a reason for her to have such a high fever. An ear infection or a urinary system infection is the most likely.Use Panado or Empaped suppositories to bring her temperature down and also wipe her down using a slightly warm washcloth. Do not overdress her and make sure that her room is well ventilated and not too hot at night. If her fever persists she must be seen by a doctor. Your GP can see her so that her ears can be examined and her urine tested for possible infection.
